On October 24-25, 2024, the ninth annual Plagiarism Detection Сonference will take place. One of the key sections of the conference is dedicated to the issues of publication ethics in the face of modern technological changes.

At this section, experts will strive to help researchers and editors delve deeper into understanding and analyzing the problems of publication ethics in today's scientific world. With the rapid increase in publication volumes, the emergence of artificial intelligence technologies, and the pressure on authors related to citation metrics, adherence to ethical norms has become the foundation for maintaining trust in scientific research and journals.

The conference will be held in an online format, allowing everyone to participate regardless of their geographical location. Participation in the conference is free.

The webinar, which Elpub and the Antiplagiat company held on September 26, 2024, discussed the risks of using generative AI in the preparation of scientific manuscripts, and gave a brief overview of recommendations for editors, authors, and reviewers (COPE, WAME, ICMJE, GOST R 70949-2023, etc.). The Listeners familiarized themselves with recommendations for referencing to text fragments generated by AI (APA, MLA), learned about the detector of generated texts in the Antiplagiat system and about approaches to text analysis and decision-making by experts.

Speaker: Olga Sergeevna Belenkaya, head of the educational and methodological center of the Antiplagiat company.

The presentation and recording of the webinar are posted in the Elpub Knowledge Base, where you can also find other materials on artificial intelligence.

The webinar was held as part of the Elpub Educational Program.

On June 13, 2024, a webinar "Journal Policy on Artificial Intelligence: What Questions Need to Be Answered?" was held within the Elpub Educational Program.

The event covered discussions on the experience of the world's largest publishers in creating recommendations regarding the correct use of artificial intelligence programs in scientific and publishing activities.

Journal editors were offered a step-by-step plan for developing an AI policy, taking into account the identified advantages and disadvantages of using the relevant programs.

Information on journal requirements regarding the use of artificial intelligence tools (primarily generative AI) is also useful for authors of scientific publications and will allow them to use these instruments more consciously in their work.

Text materials of the webinar are available via the link.

Webinar materials (presentation, video, longread) are available in the Elpub Knowledge Base.

The Elpub Knowledge Base, created by the Elpub Platform team for editors and publishers of academic journals, was launched in April and is regularly updated with relevant materials. It contains both closed (with access only for the editorial boards of the Platform's journals) and open materials on various aspects of publishing and promoting an academic journal.

The Knowledge Base has 6 thematic sections (Methodological materials and videos, Databases: applications and algorithms, Policy templates, Legal documents, Official documents and standards, Research and cases), each of which contains materials grouped by roles (Editor, Reviewer, Publisher, Author) and keywords.
